PAWS is a volunteer-based, no-kill shelter in the
Creston Valley. We are dedicated to finding loving homes for
abandoned, rescued, surrendered, and abused pets in the Creston
Valley (covering RDCK Districts A,B,C, and the Town of Creston).
We educate the public through community outreach.
We provide veterinary care, rehabilitation, socialization, and
spaying or neutering as required. Community outreach is achieved
through education, re-homing assistance, and reuniting lost pets.
PAWS philosophy as a no-kill shelter means that
PAWS pets that don’t find their furever homes live out their lives,
loved and cared for at the shelter or fostered by volunteers.
We are not affiliated with or funded by the BC
SPCA, or any municipal or provincial branch of government. Our
funding comes strictly from donations, fundraising, and grants.
"Men have forgotten this truth...but you must not
forget it. You become responsible forever for what you have tamed."

Chase
Chase is a friendly, 7.5-month-old Golden Doodle/German Shephard/Collie X.
This handsome pup has spent a week with a experienced dog trainer and there's no doubt Chase would be an awesome addition to a home without small children. (He's scared of them due to his experience in his prior home).
Being a part German Shepherd puppy, he’s a pacer, a snooper, and very curious. That curiosity means that a leash or long lead is best right now if there isn't a fenced yard or he'd likely be off exploring his world – a world he’s had very little exposure to.
This specimen of cuteness overload is very clever and will try to problem-solve with encouragement. He’s being introduced to everyday sights and sounds like doors/gates swinging, washing machine running, He’s learning to navigate stairs.
He’s still shy when meeting people and in new situations because he didn’t have much experience in his previous home. It’s best to let him set the pace when meeting people, dogs, or in a new situation.
Although he lives with 3 cats just fine, he will chase if given the opportunity.
He’s mastered many commands, ‘ah’ or ‘ah ah’’, “shhhh”, and ‘leave it’, to name a few. He knows to sit and wait for leashing, and to wait at all doors-including cars, and for his meals.
He's house- and crate-trained - his crate is where all good things happen!
So, what you have is an 8-month-old delight that, because of his prior experiences has to learn what a younger pup has to learn: To trust his humans, to understand the world around him, and to learn puppy etiquette and house rules. The trainer has written an extensive report on this boy, so there are no surprises.
Chase deserves to find his forever home. Please give us a call at 250-428-7297 and we’ll arrange a meeting.
